Webinar on a new 'PIDs-in-GLAM' project! 6th April 2020

Persistent Identifiers as IRO Infrastructure is an AHRC funded project as part of the Towards a National Collection programme.

The project will bring together best practices in the use of PIDs in the UK heritage sector, with a focus on those that are Independent Research Organisations. Building on existing work and projects, we will share expertise and provide recommendations on the approach to PIDs for colleagues across the UK heritage sector. Through a mixture of workshops, desk research and case studies, the project will answer questions such as ‘What are the gaps in the existing PID landscape for heritage collections, buildings and environments?’ and ‘What should a PID infrastructure, strategy and governance framework look like for a unified national collection?’.

This webinar is being run to introduce the community to our project and find out what you are interested in hearing more about as the project evolves.

Date and Time
The webinar will be held on Monday 6th April at 2pm UK time (2pm BST / 3pm CEST / 9am EDT) and will run until 3.30pm.

Who is it for?
This webinar is for anyone who works with heritage collections, and is interested in the use of persistent identifiers for those collections or as part of the metadata describing them. We have a focus on the UK, but non-UK heritage organisations are welcome to join! If you have been involved with implementing or using persistent identifiers for collections, we’d also love to have you join us.

What if I can’t join?
Although we’d love for you to join the webinar ‘live’, we realise that many of you may have caring or other duties that mean you can’t. Maybe you’re just in a different time zone! We will record the webinar for you to view later, and you can join in the conversation at any point on twitter with #HeritagePIDs and @HeritagePIDs.
