Hello PID folks,
I’m wondering if anyone is using PIDs for research packages. We’re exploring the use of DataCite resource type “collection”, also the RAiD from the Australian Research Data Commons. I’m curious about what has worked for you or if you’re in a similar spot and considering options.
Many thanks and happy new year to all.
Jennifer
Thanks Jennifer, I’m tagging @DataCite_admin and @NatashaS who might have examples to share, and am also posting your question on twitter
Hi Jennifer – I’m wondering what you decided to do here, four years later.
We have users wanting to choose “replication package” as the resource type. I too have considered that we could map this to DataCite “collection” and then include “replication package” as the free text resource type, but I worry about how this impacts discovery. If someone were looking for “datasets” or “software,” they would never find these. It’s a messy problem, and wondering what you ended up doing and how it’s worked out, or if others have further thoughts on this. This topic has been viewed a lot, so I suspect there is interest!
Thanks,
Amy Hodge, Stanford Univ.
