OpenCon Oxford 2020 - This Friday 4th Dec

Dear all,

I wanted to share details of our upcoming OpenCon satellite event that Crossref is co-hosting with the Bodleian Libraries.

It has been a turbulent year to say the least, but we still plan to run what will be our 6th event in an online format and we welcome you to attend. We have some fantastic speakers who will cover a range of subjects from preprint initiatives during the pandemic, the principles of social justice and the African concept of Ubuntu and how this resonates with the issue of democratization and decolonialization of research/decolonization of knowledge, the work that Open Knowledge Maps and ReFigure are doing to consolidate and visualise knowledge around COVID-19 and on OpenABM-Covid19 – how an open-source model made a difference to the pandemic.

The event will be free to attend, and it would be great if you could join us.

Details are:

Openness in context 2020: the pandemic and beyond

We will have two panel sessions for our speakers who will share the work they are doing, the importance of openness and issues around openness in the context of their work and the current pandemic. Plus we’ll have time for live questions and discussion. The presentations will be in English.
