Job opportunity in Open Data Systems (PID systems) at UKRI-STFC

STFC (part of UK Research and Innovation) is recruiting a Senior Developer (Open Data Systems). The Scientific Computing Department at STFC is coordinating the Horizon 2020 project FREYA (www.project-freya.eu) which is developing the infrastructure for persistent identifiers (PIDs) as a foundation of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). The project is developing and deploying methods and tools to support the use of PIDs for research outputs, including publications, data and people.

The role being recruited focusses on design and development of tools and prototype integrated systems that will lay the ground for PID-based services satisfying the needs of STFC’s own use cases and more widely in Open Science. These systems would need to interact with existing systems such as STFC’s institutional repository ePubs as well as query external PID-based systems through APIs and access to metadata. The post will involve design and integration of such prototypes for presentation to STFC’s facilities and wider communities with interests in PIDs, and will involve close collaboration with other FREYA project partners in their own developments.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in building a fundamental part of the European Open Science Cloud (and indeed the global e-infrastructure). See http://www.topcareer.jobs/Vacancy/irc249365_9461.aspx for more information.

The closing date is 10 July 2019.
