DataCite: RelatedIdentifier for Data Management Plans

I was wondering, if you also include Data Manament Plans (DMP) in your documentation of research data using the DataCite Metadata Schema.

If so, which RelatedIdentifier do you usually use for DMPs? In our case, we were thinking about using the relationTypes: IsDescribedBy, IsDocumentedBy. But if you have any other suggestions or use cases, i’d like to hear about them.

DataCite doesn’t have an official recommendation for the relationType to use for DMPs. Speaking personally, if I were choosing between the two options you mention, I would lean toward IsDocumentedBy, since I would argue that the data itself is not being described by the DMP, and IsDocumentedBy feels more generic in that respect. I don’t think there’s a relationType that adequately describes this relationship.
