Hi everyone,
We just minted a DOI for an object, where one of the mandatory properties was unavailable. Hence, we used the standard value “:unav” instead. What the citation formatter does, though, is, instead of resolving the standard value to text, leave the standard value in the citation as is. This does not seem satisfactory to us. We therefore reported the issue to DataCite, who agreed to look into it. In the meantime, we would be interested to hear, how other organizations currently deal with this.
On our own landing page, we can solve this differently, but the question is, what happens in third-party systems, who use DataCite’s metadata/citations like Crosscite?
Any experience/advice you can share?
Thanks,
Elise (TU Wien, Austria)
