The roadmap is based largely on the comprehensive empirical data collected by the PID Network Deutschland project, including the extensive PID survey conducted in 2024 (https://doi.org/10.5334/dsj-2026-028). It synthesizes these findings into five concrete recommendations for action to strengthen the national PID ecosystem in a targeted manner and ensure its long-term sustainability.

- Available in two languages: The PID Roadmap is now available in both German (PID-Roadmap für Wissenschafts- und Kultureinrichtungen in Deutschland | Zenodo) and English (PID Roadmap for Research and Cultural Heritage Institutions in Germany | Zenodo).
- Historical Addendum: Along with the Roadmap, the publication “Über die Genese der deutschen PID-Infrastruktur" (On the Origins of the German PID Infrastructure) has been released as a standalone addendum on Zenodo in German (Über die Genese der deutschen PID-Infrastruktur | Zenodo). The publication offers in-depth insight into the development and technological foundations of the PID landscape in Germany.
